Walking through the woods, ever so dark,
The trees bent over, bare and stark;
I wandered into the pale, moonless night,
Would there be respite, would there be light?

And there you were, stepping by my side,
Leading the trail, like a beacon, like my guide.
I looked into your eyes, so tender, so warm,
Becalming my inner being, soothing like a balm.

Lo and behold! The path swiftly cleared,
The night faded away, the day appeared!
You gently held my hand, beamed a bewitching smile,
I wished I were yours, for then and for all while.

Joy arose in my heart, a promise it did bring,
A glimpse of days to come, of flowers blooming in spring.
Now, looking back, I wonder at that magical time,
Would that moment last forever, would that love be sublime?
